Oceanfront grounds of Menehune Shores in Kihei, with palm trees, a green lawn, and the beach

Some condos make you want to stay inside. Menehune Shores 427 makes you want to step outside. This oceanfront corner unit has an ocean view and a private lanai, so the sea breeze and the sound of the waves become part of the daily routine.

The 885-square-foot home has two bedrooms and two full bathrooms, and each bedroom has its own sleeping area with views. The unit is fully furnished, with a range, refrigerator, dishwasher, washer and dryer, and cable TV.

Menehune Shores sits on a 3.82-acre oceanfront site in the Kalepolepo area of North Kihei. The complex has an in-ground pool and a barbecue area at the water’s edge.

The neighborhood has plenty to explore:

  • Kalepolepo Beach Park is next door. It’s a compact park fronted by the ancient Koʻieʻie Fishpond, whose stone walls create a calm, shallow pool for wading. There’s a grassy lawn, picnic tables, a grill, and an outdoor shower.
  • The Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary Visitor Center sits beside the park on South Kihei Road. Its exhibits cover humpback whale biology and conservation, and it hosts weekly programs. In winter, whales are often visible from the shoreline.
  • Monsoon Bar & Grill is inside the Menehune Shores resort. It serves Indian food, and its tables overlook Maalaea Bay, which makes it a good spot for sunset. Check hours before you go.
  • Isana is a short drive up South Kihei Road. It’s a Korean barbecue and sushi restaurant with a sushi bar and karaoke some evenings.
  • Kihei Canoe Club runs outrigger paddling in the waters off Kihei. Visitors can join guest paddles, and the club has about 300 members.
  • Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice is at 61 S Kihei Rd, next to the farmers market, and is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sugar Beach Bake Shop is at the Sugar Beach location in Kihei, next to Ululani’s. It’s a good stop for pastries and baked goods on the way to or from the beach.

The list price is $1,200,000. Maintenance is $1,590.52 per month, and taxes are $1,077.75 per month. Pets are not allowed under the association rules.
